need DK help

This is my first post, so hi all!.

Now, down to the nitty-gritty. I play mostly UD 2v2/3v3. Im experienced, so I dont need basic help, but i am having trouble with one hero. It's *gasp* the DK. I HATE him. He's stupid and doesnt follow orders (like hold position). I go fiends/destroyers and i typically go CL w/ impale and a lich or DL. While i find the DK obnoxious and boring, i feel it neccessary that i get good with him. Every time i play him i get him to around 3 to 5 max. He gets his ass pwned. I try to hold him back, but the little **** goes out of his Hold Position. He couldnt hold his own in a rumble if he had to melee attack wise.

Point being i would love some tips for using him. I dont like that i need this, but i do need to improve and i feel that this would help immensly. Any help with him or in general would be awesome.

thx|||I dont play UD well, but I have some ideas that could help maybe.

Just try buffing his stats with everything you can get. Some nice items on him, and seeing as how he is a melee hero, and your having trouble with him, it might be a good idea to keep an invunerable potion on him at all times, and possibly use Death Pack as a skill in case you need to get him out of there and need a bit of health in a hurry. As for using him properally, thats kind of a toss up. He is a hero that you have to kind of babysit or so it seems. Just make sure you keep a close eye on him. About all you can do besides what I mentioned, at least that I can think of atm.

And imo, if you can use the DL very well, and not have him get owned like hell, I would go with him anyways. Infernals are definatly awesome, and **** **** without a problem normally. Not to mention the stun they can give a retreating army or blow to some casters in the back line or something.|||dls dies really fast tho.|||He's got really good speed, I try to use him in early game to get the exp on players that are creeping by coiling creeps that are about to die. Put boots on him.

You don't need to put in the front lines, but you do need to micro manage him from early to late game in order to make him dangerous and effective.|||Quote:

Can't you spent your mana with something useless?|||DL and CL are both creep beasts. CL+fiends= more exp than the schmo thinking of whether or not to coil something. same with DL. nothing better than having your DL come over and smack your casters/ranged with 2 level 3 carrions (yes, i know sleep IS ownage, but carrion i like for 2s). lvl3 carrion>>>caster/ranged, lol.. and infernal?! nah nah, too much :)|||errrm as far as I know (lol) Dk creeps faster than Cl because of aura = faster movement speed. Coil allows creeping without damage. With cl, beetles die kinda fast at lvl 1 and i guess lvl 2.|||he is a good tank and have nice armor tho.|||im not talking walking wise. dk is a weak hero that cant take hits very well. sometimes you may have to pull him back and go heal which= more time spend on creeping. CL with impale (not big on beetles, too weak early on) just ff the creep with fiends, cls not taking much dmg with the stun, and that translates into more efficient creeping. maybe i creep the dk wrong, but thats what this post is about though, i suck with dk.

so you actually use coil to creep with? u buy lots of mana pots or something?

just seems like it would suck if you're on your way back from a camp and you run into an enemy, all the sudden you have no mana, no mana with fiends= gg, right? i just need dk help in general. creeping and *especially* in battles, cuz his dumbass will *not* Hold Position, lol|||Quote:

..., now let's see:

- CL creeps about as fast as DK. CL may be able to do red / hard orange creeps a tiny bit earlier, but it really isn't a difference on most maps.

- If you DO want to creep fast with CL, take beetles lol and not impale...

- You do NOT stand around in your base healing your DK, you let him take a few hits, then micro about a bit with your fiends (which should come automatically without thinking) so that hits are shared, everyone takes a bit of damage, which is quickly healed up by aura and natural hp regen.

- You do not need coil for most creeps, maybe 1-2 coils per camp if you're speedcreeping very hard camps, and those few coils get neutralized by natural mana regen, you don't need mana pots. However, when using a CL with impale, which stuns for like 2 secs and would have to be cast more than once per creep... :cough:

- If you put a hero on hold position, he holds position... You're probably using the wrong button, hotkey or something.. ~.~

- Don't put him on hold position though, just keep him back manually, it's not hard. If you really have big trouble, buy him a heal pot and an invuln pot.

Or actually, it's better this way, as maybe ppl will stop behaving so ******ed and running around wraped in flags all the time in Germany now..|||awesome tips peon. yeah, im normally 3's so im gonna give beetles another shot. also before i read your thread (havent been on for a few days with work and all) i started doing the pull back thing with my DL, tried it with a dk and it worked pretty well. Im seeing improvements, definately. thxs all|||Oh, you play 3on3. In that case, if you do go CL, get beetles for creeping, but get impale second, its very good vs those masses of clumped units in big team games.|||Hey think there's this thing called "50 years" between now and this thing called world war two (or was it WW3??? -.-). This thing usually makes people change. In other words, we're not Nazis anymore -_- or Italians fascists. :P

Rod's are really of important imo. Was about to mention that u forgot it before I saw u mentioned it later. I like to have each creep or rather a part of the creeps attacking different things. For eg. with orc, you have the range creeps attack the fs and then let the melee creeps attack the wolves, or else wolves would die too fast. Kinda same with UD. Try to keep the skellies alive as long as possible and mb get the range creeps to attack the fiends which is good obviously b/c fiend armor is resistant to pierce. Mb try to have DK take as little hits as possible b/c he can't coil himself. And sth aura regen isn't enough to regen HP quickly enough that was lost.

But LoL I just switched to UD two days ago, so mb I shouldnt be talking ^_^|||man

aura, pact, and stats basically make the dk a mid to late game god- he just wont die... and if you add on an invul pot here and some boots there...|||umm. You don't use coil?|||-.- of course i do im just listing the things that keep him alive :/|||I think it wouldn't be all that bad of a use if you had pact and a rod handy at all times so you could pact skellies or near-dead units.
