Why am i allways losing?

Hey guys,

I have just been playing war3 for 1 week now.

I use to play war2 all the time before and use to kick ass (2 years ago.)

However i have noticed that war3 is very hero focus and i find myself over powered by other players.

Can some one please give me a good build order and what i should be focusing on??? I have noticed that rushing does not really pull it off.

I am using humans at the moment and any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance. |||hmmmmmmmm its hard to say, you asked such a general question. But since you don't seem to be like the typical ******ed newcomer we usually get, we're going to try to help you. I don't really play human but I do watch human pro's occassionally...I havent ever played wc2 either. The best thing you can do is watch replays. Go to www.wcreplays.com They have replays of professionals there. Good luck. Also, ask infernal peon here, he knows [IP: no bypassing teh wordfiltar :o] about human.

Hopefully this hasn't changed, but I know that against orc, human goes dual arcane sanctum with archmage + beastmaster. Here you just mass spell casters and mass hero summons (water elementals and quilbeasts). Most of the time you rush pretty quickly and tower rush (bring militia).

Against Undead I dont really know.

Same for Night elf.

Against human it used to be archmage/footmen and then tech to priests/breakers/mountain king and sometimes knights later. But I bet this has changed. This was a while back...

In general however, archmage is the standard starting hero against all races.

For general gameplay tips/strats, you need to be focusing on leveling up your heroes (by creeping. Creeping is attacking the groups of units spread out all over the map, which give you experience = level up). You also should be scouting your opponent to see what he's getting, so that you can counter effectively and not be taken by surprise. This is prolly the same in wc2...

You never want to mass one type of unit. You should always have a good mix, and the units in those mix should support eachother. Also make good use of items. There are hundreds of different items: some enhance your units fighting capabilities, whereas others strengthen your heroes. Theres many others too...

Um what else...

Never let your gold pile up, always use it. Again, this is prolly the same in wc2...

Also, you always want to be doing something. Whether its base management, creeping, attacking, building, buying, training, never let yourself stand around.

Um theres obviously more, but the rest comes with experience. For example, getting to know the most common maps, anticipating your opponents position on the map (creepjack) and making good decisions. Also, get to know the hotkeys for different spells and buildings. By using them, you dont have to move your mouse to click the spell or build the building, instead you can just use the hotkey. This way, you get things done MUCH faster.

About buildorders, sorry I cant really help here, as I dont really play human. As I said, watch replays, and try to copy their build orders.

Hope it helps.|||k.

Firstly, it's totally normal that you're losing all the time after only a week of playing. The most important advice I can give you is to keep practising. Apart from playing lots, you can watch your replays to find out what you did wrong, and watch pro replays to see strats, good micro and macro, and the like. Some wellknown human players are, for example, WE.IGE.Sky, 4K.ToD, hoorai.nilk or vrG.SS.SonKiE; espesially Sky is playing really, really well at the moment.

As for general strats, I'd say more or less the following:

General:

normally you get AM first, for waterelementals to creep and his aura to support your casters, which you'll end up getting very often. You'll also opt for MK second quite often, stormbolt is arguably the strongest skill in the game. Also note that human is a fastexpo race; with waterelementals, militia and fastbuild it's really easy, especially on maps like Lost Temple where the natural expo is right next door.

It's also important to know that apart from often getting AM and casters, the human army is extremly versatile and the strats below are only very rough guidelines. Human doesn't have a strat that they always aim for (destroyers for undead, beardryad for elf, etc), but they can counter anything that's thrown at them. Learn how to counter what (www.battle.net/war3 gives basics) and use that knowledge.

vs. OC:

as Snypar said, AM BstM early t2 towerpush with foots, mass summons, towers and sorcs coming in.

vs. HU:

is basically a game of rock/paper/scissors, you need to scout what he's getting and counter it. Often, you'll end up with foots and caster/breaker at t2 though, progressing to knight/gryph or something at t3. Mass mercs does well too. Heroes are AM 1st, MK/FL/Panda/Naga/BstM 2nd (MK or FL being the most common, FL normally used for pressuring at t2) and Pala 3rd.

vs. NE:

You normally either go for a t2 push with AM Naga foot caster towers, or a strong t3 with AM MK Pala knights casters mortars (maybe add gryphons if he has a lot more bears than dryads).

vs. UD:

Many people skip casters in this matchup as they get owned by the undead heroes and destroyers. You want AM MK Pala (Pala 3rd being important both to save your AM from nukes and to nuke back) with knights and gyrocopters, plus optional gryphs or tanks. You'll probably want to grab an expo too, if the undead is going fiends you can even easily fast expo.

vs. RM:

start out with standard AM foots and scout his race, than adapt.|||Why should you care? there are lottas threads about basics around ehre.|||Thanks for your tips and advice guys.

I think the replays will really help me.

I am pretty quick with hotkeys and general play.

Where i get stuck is beyond the barracks and footmen,

dont really know what to build after that..

Thanks again.|||after getting rax and footies it all depends on the units you get and upgrading and getting the proper buildigs for it for me i usually go for palidin and mass rifles to end it by late t1 or early t2 but i havent played hu in awhile let alone warcraft in generald(my main comp with warcraft is broken and i cant dl it on my sisters labtop) but i remember about walling ur base and making only one entrance to ur bae to minimalize hero rushes on your peasents and u build a wall of farms a rax or 2 and altar with a arcane vault omewhere behind the wall then you pump out the rifles and attack as for other strats im not very sure cause im more of a end it fast type of person or i just creep yellows first with water element am and 2 or 3 footies with some micro in there but you can make your own strat that works for you it doesnt have to be the same as everyone you can go crazy if you wanted but you should just find something that works well for you and stick with it or just play a race you are comfortable with
