micromanagement question

Hi,

I only have wc3 ROC and not frozen throne so I can't view any of the replays so I must ask this question. how much do people micromanage their troops when each party has a pretty big group of guys? For me, I pay attention to first making sure my hero's are in good position, then i start casting spells on whomever, third i make sure no troops are trying to sneak around towards my back line, fourth i try to focus fire with ranged units if hero or any other units low on energy. should i be paying attnetion to the health of my guys in the front line by moving them out if necessary or is that just a bit TOO much? what are the things you look for in the middle of a battle?|||If they have 2 armies They press spacebar.



And you should pay attention to every little thing, or you'll lose your units ;o|||to above poster, no ya wont. i did it before. not micro the whole game, and won.|||I suppose I'll start with the theory and logic part: Melee in the front, casters and range in the back, and hero either tanking, or nuking, or entangling, or summoning (basically whatever is good for your heroes).

Its really hard to follow the above as i think most of us know. Especially, as you pointed out, in large battles. The best advice i can give is this: to make the ALT key one of your best friends; dont ff with melee in the bigger battles because all your raiders/aboms/bears/etc will end up doing is running in circles trying to ff whatever you pointed on, so therefore i would advise against throwing all melee onto one key; your hero should usually be your first priority and their hero should be a main target...heroes can singlehandedly change the course of big battles. In the middle of a larger battle (its a sad truth) im primarily looking if my heroes have pots, so iono if u really need my opinion on that question =)
