why strange 4v4 tactics don't work...

Ok, we've all drept it, but it never happens. Crazy ideas that just don't work in 4v4 games. List something that you thought up, but never dared try, or something that you've tried, and maybe have a replay for.

1. 3 teams keep harassing on one side of map, then another team invis mortars and plants on other side of map, destroying town hall

2. Going right down the middle, divide and conquer.

3. One i'd really like to try, but can't get people to organize on:

me: fiends with web, knights, human sorcs and priests, and mortars.

My fiends own any air and can focus fire, knights are tanks up front, sorcs and priests keep us alive and them hardly moving, and the mortars go straight for buildings.

None of these ever work, mainly cuz i cna't get teammates to even TRY them. Most people are so set in their ways, all you can do is say rush or no rush.|||I once played 4 vs 4. Drunk of course (because thats the only logical reason I can come up with to play a 4vs4). We decided to go 4 mk's. Suddenly I saw 1 ally who picked AM. When I asked him why he seriously told me he did that to aura-support us. Alt q q.|||Anything works in 4v4. Mass peons, mass towers (mass meaning the whole map full), solo bm without any units,....|||Quote:

Ummmm, right.

Any replay of a mass peon win? I guess peons would definatly make this list...

Mass towers can be done, but I don't think it would be very successfull. Seem in 4v4 all they have to do is quick tech to chims and frosties and you're toast.

Solo BM... hmmm, it'd be interesting for sure.

I thought something that might actually be successful was all being UD, all sending in the ghoul at first chance and destroying one town. A ghoul can take out most workers quickly, but if they all team up and take down the buildings being built, that would be better. Plus, the other teams wouldn't want to go in and save them unless they each had like 2 units, cuz who's gonna send in 1 unit vss 4?|||Quote:

It's called farming! And bm isn't only hero to farm with,it can be any ranged, agility hero,n stuff!

Point of farming is just harras enemy's while you send resorses to your friends!I won with that for like many times!|||Quote:

so you really don't built units, just a hero? hey, i guess they'd be able to tech pretty quick eh?|||I went peons/shams.|||one of the more fun strats in 4v4 is have everyone go panda. no units, no second hero, just a panda.

we've won more games then lost doing that.

there are a lot of really interesting strats that work better in 4v4 then any other game type. you can really cheese it up in those and expect to win. of course if you play a team who has gone up against that stuff before, odds are you wont.|||lol just mass towers and demos or bats if he goes air. Towers block demos and demos back towers up. Together, they decimate any ground in sight (hi burning oil). If he gets hawks/frosties, then just mass bats.

Hasnt lost me a game yet in solo. If it works in solo then it should work in RT xD|||Quote:

Sometimes, when all team is orc,you can go 4 blademasters,it pwns joo!

Just rush 4v1!|||i meant going solo bm w/o farming, why would you want to give money to your idiot teammates in rt or make at too easy? you can do it with basically any hero really (i've won with dual solo potm w/o units in 2v2), but yeah panda is real fun. dh, warden or blade are other obvious options. or have everyone go ud trihero or am blm pl or sth. :>

edit: yeah casters are cool with peons. pheer my bloodlusted spiritlinked peons with healingwards!|||I really wanna see a replay of a peon game, SOMEONE get one for me!

I really can't see how that could possibly work. What is is, like 4-5 attack?|||I think one of the reasons strange tactics don't work is because when you do something odd, it's odd for a reason.

I've seen the AOW kill, but only on a 1v1, not a 4v4

A good one i'd like to try, but noone seems to want to do is an all majic.

UD - necro, shee, statues(for backing all armies)

NE - Bears(roar and melee), and faerie fire(and cyclone)

Orc - Shamans(BL), Doctors(scout and heal)

Human - mainly sorcs with some priests

What you get is bears that have roar, bloodlust, and that priesty thing, and being healed by priests, statues, and wards. What does the enemy have? probably knights with little armor due to faerie fire, missing due to curse, some in the air from cyclones, slowed from sorcs and traps. GG

Only problem is if they go air.|||The reason mass magic won't work vs non-noob opponents is that they'll scout it, get anticasters and own you to bits. Dryads, priests, even spiritwalkers would completly own you, and if they get even a single destro out it'll be insta-gg anyway.|||Quote:

yeah, but it'd still be killer to see, wouldn't it?

Every plan has a downfall here or there, except for mass fiends with lich with necro scroll and maybe some shees. I think it's invincible. AA, good ground damage, focus fire, frost armor, frost nova to slow those dang BM's, and burrow for a quick heal.|||Quote:

Hey, i once fought against a noob who did exactly just that! I froze in front of the computer...literally! There goes my sorcs and priests...|||I have always loved to use Banshees for possess, its just so funny.

The thing about 4v4, is that someone will always tech to some good land unit, tauren, knights, aboms, w/e. Knowing this, if you tech to banshees, you can potentially gain a very good army, and deprive an opponent of theres. Half the time the people sit there, watch, and don't know what's going on.

When I do this, I also use necros, not neccasarily for the summon abilities, but for the Cripple. That skill is just so impressive, if you micro with it, it's supreme.

Only downside to this, is if you are playing 4v4, and you get 4 man rushed, it's kinda hard. You may have one tower, a hero, and a rod of necromancy, but that seldom keeps you alive.

It's hard to keep an army of just shee's though. I usually start with fiends, simply because of the reason of that 4 man rush. I wouldn't want to dissappoint my friends! I hardly ever throw in a necro in there though, just the rod, not the units. I'm not very good with micro. I usually use the shee's for curse, not possess too, for the same reason... bad at micro.
